When you join NFA as a Quality Assurance Lead, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, accuracy, and performance of the systems that support NFA's mission to safeguard the integrity of the derivatives market.  In this role, you will help drive quality across the software development lifecycle while partnering closely with Information Systems teams and business stakeholders to deliver high- quality, reliable applications.

Beginning your first day and throughout your career at NFA, you will help lead quality initiatives, mentor members of the QA team, and contribute to continuous improvement across our testing frameworks and processes. 

 

What you'll do:

 

As a Quality Assurance Lead, you will utilize your hands-on testing expertise with strategic thinking to identify process improvements, strengthen automation capabilities, and support the ongoing evolution of NFA's quality assurance program. Additional responsibilities include:

 

  • Plan and lead testing activities across multiple teams and concurrent initiatives within the Information Systems department.
  • Serve as a mentor to QA team members by providing guidance on testing strategies, tools, and best practices.
  • Participate in code and design reviews to ensure solutions are testable and meet quality standards.
  • Identify gaps in existing QA processes and recommend improvements to strengthen quality assurance practices across the organization.
  • Contribute to roadmap discussions and collaborate with stakeholders to support long-term quality assurance initiatives.
  • Define, monitor, and analyze QA metrics including weekly test status updates, defect tracking, risk identification, and a monthly QA dashboard.
  • Ensure epics and user stories include clear acceptance criteria and are reviewed for testability before development begins.
  • Develop comprehensive test plans using business requirements, technical specifications, and subject matter expert input.
  • Expand regression testing and automated test coverage across multiple applications.
  • Ensure QA efforts for new and existing systems meet or exceed NFA's quality standards.
  • Provide testing support for urgent or one-off initiatives within the Information Systems department.
  • In addition to these responsibilities, the lead is a hands on role that participates in coordinating, documenting, and executing  all QA testing and initiatives.

 

 

What we're looking for:

 

  • College graduate or equivalent experience; degree in a related field preferred
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends as needed 
  • 10+ years of experience in software quality assurance, preferably supporting web-based applications requiring data validation and back-end processing.
  • Proven ability to lead testing initiatives across multiple teams.
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently and collaborate with technical and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.
  • Experience testing across multiple concurrent software initiatives.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps or Team Foundation Server required.
  • Expertise with automated testing tools.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with MS SQL Server Management Studio
  • Experience with Tricentis Tosca preferred.
  • Knowledge of finance, auditing, or regulatory environments highly preferred.

 

Salary range: $103,400 - $176,000
